Wears Valley: A Hidden Gem

Nestled in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Wears Valley is a charming, serene community with a rich history. The valley is located just a few miles from the popular tourist destinations of Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, but offers a quieter, more peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of those areas.

Wears Valley was named after Samuel Wear, a Revolutionary War veteran who settled in the area in the late 1700s. Over the years, the valley has been home to a number of small farming communities, and was a bustling center of commerce in the late 1800s and early 1900s. During this time, the valley was a hub of activity, with several gristmills, sawmills, and other businesses thriving in the area.

However, by the mid-1900s, many of the valley's businesses had closed, and the area had become much quieter. In the 1960s and 1970s, the valley saw a resurgence of activity as people began to rediscover its beauty and peacefulness. Today, Wears Valley is a popular tourist destination, with a growing number of bed and breakfasts, vacation rental cabins, and other attractions.

One of the highlights of Wears Valley is the picturesque Wears Valley Road, which winds its way through the valley and offers stunning views of the Great Smoky Mountains.
